Straitjacket is used for fixation and immobilization of the patient’s upper limbs in mobility, in the process when it is necessary to limit the upper limbs and preserve the ability to move independently.
Straitjacket is designed for motor-excitable patients, in the operating and postoperative period to improve regeneration processes.
The straitjacket provides a secure fixation of the patient’s upper extremities without harming his health, completely limiting the movement of the hands, while not limiting the mobility of the body and head.
Efficient use of straitjackets in the following departments of medical facilities:
- in the psychiatry department;
- in toxicology;
- in drug treatment;
- to transport patients with mental disorders.
The shirt is put on from the front, putting the hands in long sleeves, which are crossed in front and fixed by 4 straps and 2 straps through the crotch, which are also fixed on the back.
A STRAITJACKET WILL ALLOW:
- to protect a suicidal patient;
- to protect the patient from accidental injury, falling or uncontrolled movements;
- prevent suicidal attempts in patients prone to it;
- protect medical staff from directed aggression by the patient;
- provide a safe and non-traumatic fixation of the patient during transportation and movement;
- ensure painless and comfortable immobilization of the patient in the hospital bed;
- make it easier for the medical staff to conduct medical procedures for the patient, whether diagnostic or therapeutic;
- prevent bedsores and rehabilitation procedures, eliminating the need for permanent fixation of patients in a hospital bed;
- to accelerate and facilitate the process of medical care immediately after immobilization.
STRAITJACKET INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
The shirt is put on from the front, putting the hands in long sleeves, so that the straps are on the back side. The shirt is fixed to the body, gradually tying 4 straps on the back. The hands are then crossed in front, passed through a vertical loop on the chest and tied on the back. Two straps are passed through the crotch, which are also fixed on the back.
- When wearing a straitjacket, it is necessary to ensure the integrity of all ties and their minimum length, so that the patient can not independently loosen, untie or tear them.
- Make sure that there are no hard or sharp foreign objects underneath the straitjacket that may cause injury if the straitjacket is in prolonged close contact with the patient’s body.
- Ties should be tightened and adjusted according to the patient’s constitution, taking into account the anatomical forms.
- Control the purity of the products and the absence of foreign matter on them.
- Make sure that sutures and straitjacket ties do not rub or injure the patient’s skin.
- Periodically control the patient’s condition and fixation strength.
STRAITJACKET CONTRAINDICATIONS
- when the integrity of a straitjacket is compromised;
- open wounds and burns of the patient’s skin;
